Summary: 11,000 mile endurance flight (1929) of Army's "Question Mark C-2" plane, showing air-to-air refueling. Film also includes some information on transcontinental flight of T-2 airplane. 1) Air-to-air Army's Question Mark which is a modified version of the Fokker F-8 type aircraft. A C-1 early bi-plane flying above and forward of it. 2) Air to air from the tanker plane showing the Army Question Mark flying directly underneath. The nozzle of the gas line swings back and forth in the frame of the camera. WHILE FLYING SEVENTY MILES AN HOUR THE FUEL PLANE LOWERS ITS HOSE LINE AND THE QUESTION MARK TAKES ON 100 GALLONS OF GASOLINE. 3) Air to air of the two aircraft, showing the tanker plane lowering its hose to the Question Mark. 4) Air to air showing crew member on the Question Mark catching the fuel hose and dragging it inside the plane. 5) MS from the tanker plane. Carl Andrew Spaatz (born Spatz; June 28, 1891 – July 14, 1974), nicknamed "Tooey", was an American World War II general. As commander of Strategic Air Forces in Europe in 1944, he successfully pressed for the bombing of the enemy's oil production facilities as a priority over other targets. He became Chief of Staff of the newly formed United States Air Force in 1947. Spaatz retired with the rank of general on June 30, 1948.
